  • Kuvaus: August 1944, and a captain of the Greek army in the Middle East, Iason, has secretly landed on an island with the mission to gather information on the disposition of the Germans’ defensive arrangements in preparation for the impending landing of the Allied Forces. In order to complete his mission, he comes in contact with some partisans, but the Germans are aware of his presence and arrest twelve men to force his surrender. A little before the deadline expires, a local, who, just before the outbreak of the war had been declared a defector and was in hiding, presents himself in place of Iason and is executed, making his wife and son proud. Iason is injured in a skirmish with the Germans, but his fiancée Eleni, who is a doctor and had come secretly from Athens to meet him, saves his life. Iason communicates the relevant information to Egypt, and the liberation of the country finds him celebrating beside Eleni and the people of the island.
